We have over 25 years of experience of facilitating safe sailing for people with disabilities in the delightful setting of Rutland Water. We offer a range of training, sailing for fun, & racing, for those with every level of sailing skill - beginners to elite.
We provide accessible boats & equipment, in a fully accessible venue and the support of a great team of friendly, experienced volunteers.
We welcome sailors with a disability & able-bodied volunteers. Everyone is a member and age is no barrier. We currently have members aged between 7 and 87yrs old!
Weather permitting, April to October, we sail every Thursday (all day) & Saturday (morning only). November to March we meet on Thursdays for an interesting series of talks, training & socialising.
Rutland Water: Forecast Weather Conditions
The 2024 sailing season has been both varied and frustrating; too much wind, too little wind but, IMO, despite the winds and the weather, it has been FUN! The last Thursday Sailing day took place on Thursday 24th October and on Thursday 31 October we laid-up the boats for the winter.
Over the winter months, far from hibernating, we will run a programme of lectures and on-shore training every Thursday. Integral to this is also the opportunity for members to meet up over a coffee or lunch at Rutland Sailing Club and 'shoot-the-breeze'!
Do have a look through this website about the who, what, why and where of Rutland Sailability and then come on down and give it a go.... see if sailing 'rocks-your-boat'!
The photos below were taken on our last Thursday Sailing Days in 2024. Very suprisingly we had great sunshine and some very reasonable winds - the season ended on a high note!
